Living in Porto
Porto is a bit like Lisbon’s quieter, more grounded sibling. It has the same charm, but with less pressure to perform as a global hotspot.Life here feels manageable. Rent is lower than Lisbon, the pace is slower, and you can build a routine without constantly competing for space or attention. There’s still plenty to do, especially around food and wine, but it doesn’t feel overwhelming.
The tradeoff is fewer opportunities, especially if you’re not working remotely. It’s not a major economic hub, so most expats here already have income sorted. If you do, though, Porto offers a really comfortable, sustainable version of European living.
