Living in Medellín

Medellín feels like a city that figured out how to reinvent itself and then just kept going. The weather is basically perfect year-round, which sounds like a cliché until you experience it and realize you’ve stopped checking forecasts entirely.

Life here tends to revolve around neighborhoods like El Poblado or Laureles, where you can build a routine quickly. Good coffee, solid WiFi, and a social scene that’s very active without feeling overwhelming.

The cost of living is still reasonable for what you get, especially if you’re earning in dollars. That said, it’s not quite the hidden gem it used to be, and you’ll feel that in certain areas.

There’s also a real contrast between expat life and local reality that’s hard to ignore over time. Still, for a mix of climate, affordability, and energy, it’s easy to see why people stay.
