Living in Cluj-Napoca

Cluj is one of those cities that surprises you by being more modern and livable than you expected. It has a strong tech scene, a young population, and just enough international presence to make settling in relatively easy.

The cost of living is still very reasonable by European standards, especially for rent, and you can build a comfortable life without stretching too hard. Cafés, coworking spots, and a growing food scene make it feel like a smaller version of a Western European city, but without the price tag.

The tradeoff is that it’s not a major global hub. Flights can be limited, and the expat scene is smaller. But that also means you’re not just another transient face passing through. If you want something stable, affordable, and quietly up-and-coming, Cluj makes a lot of sense.
